Slovenia's eRecept service transfers prescription information electronically from the prescriber to the pharmacy. All Slovenian pharmacies participate, and patients normally collect prescribed medicines without carrying a traditional paper prescription.

Collecting medicine

Bring the identification and health-insurance credentials normally used for care. Repeat supplies may be collected according to the prescription instructions. Special cases, home visits and urgent prescriptions can still involve paper documentation.

If the central or local system is unavailable, what the pharmacy can dispense depends on the outage and whether the prescription is marked urgent. Follow the pharmacist's instructions; they may ask you to wait, present an urgent paper form or try another pharmacy.
