Polish medicine authorisations state whether a product is prescription-only or may be supplied without prescription. Prescription medicines require clinical oversight; non-prescription products still have approved indications, doses and warnings.
Prescription status and NFZ reimbursement are separate. A prescribed medicine may be fully paid, while reimbursement can depend on diagnosis, entitlement and the way the prescription was issued. The pharmacist checks e-prescription data and safe dispensing.
Ask about the exact product and current rules. Do not assume that a medicine available without prescription in another country has the same status in Poland.
